WHEN SHOULD I ARRIVE to san Miguel?
Our first event will be Thursday evening, however please arrive whenever works for you. Hopefully you can arrive a few days early or stay a few days later to explore the beauty of San Miguel!
What should I wear
We have suggested attire and Pinterest mood boards with outfit inspiration linked on our SCHEDULE page. We welcome all our guests to wear Indian outfits, however, please do not feel obligated to do so.
We have listed some websites below where you can buy some Indian outfits.
If you need any help with your outfits, please feel free to reach out to either of us. We're happy to help!
How do I pack all these clothes?
We recommend using vacuum seal storage bags for clothes. You can buy these on amazon.
How do I get around San Miguel?
San Miguel is very walkable town and all the events of the weekend will be right in the heart of downtown so we expect most guests will be able to walk to and from events. That being said, it can be a bit hilly and the cobblestones aren't heel-friendly, so if you prefer to take a cab, you can easily spot them on the street. These are super affordable (typically less than $120 Mexican Pesos or ~$7 USD, cash only) and safe. Uber is available too and is very inexpensive! You do not need a rental car to get around town and we do not recommend doing this.
What shoes should I wear then?
If you do choose to walk to events but still want to wear heels, we recommend leaving the stilettos at home and opting for a platform or block heel. We will have a shoe check available at the Sangeet and Reception so you could also wear walking shoes to the event, and change into heels for the evening.
Additionally, please note that the venue for the Sangeet has areas with cobblestone as well.
Do i need to bring mexican pesos?
You will need cash for things like local cabs, tips, handcrafts, street vendors, etc. Being a tourist town, lots of people will accept USD, but if you're able to bring pesos from your bank it'll make your life a bit easier. ATMs are around as well.
Am i gonna get sick?
We sure hope not! However, there is always a chance in Mexico. Please don’t let this scare you from trying foods. There are some amazing and world class restaurants in San Miguel and Mexico City (check out our google lists!)
Can I drink tap water?
No. Tap water is safe to brush your teeth with but not necessarily to drink. Drink bottled water only. Most restaurants use purified water for ice, but always good to use your best judgement.
How can i prevent getting sick?
If you know you're sensitive, taking Pepto-Bismol a few days before you travel and while you are traveling can help prevent any issues. (please note if you take the pepto, do not be alarmed by the black stools, this is normal).
And if i do get sick...?
We got you. Please let us or our wedding team know. We have many healthcare provider guests for our wedding - enough to staff a whole hospital probably! Pharmacies are everywhere in town and it is very easy to get medications as well. Lastly, there are two hospitals in the area should it come to that.
